On November, 14 last, at Casa Memória do Século XX Eng. Duarte Pacheco, the exhibition "The health of a community. Loulé in the 1st half of the 20th century" was inaugurated. This exhibition features health care in the municipality of Loulé in the first half of the 20th century, at a time when hygiene habits were practically non-existent, causing the proliferation of various diseases.
It pays homage to doctors Geraldino Brites, Evardo Pidwell and José Bernardo Lopes, and highlights the important role municipal doctors held in matters of public health.This exhibition also intends to feature the support of the municipality in the defense and promotion of its residents’ health.Although the planning and preparation of this exhibition predates covid-19 pandemic, today it makes much more sense, since a century later, health is once again the main priority.
