With Feet on The Ground and Hands in the Sea - 6000 Years of Quarteira History

13/05/2021

Loulé Municipal Museum has joined forces with various entities and people to tell the story of an area, from its first inhabitants to the present day. This territory corresponds to the current parish of Quarteira - the coastal strip situated between the Quarteira and Carcavai streams - where the oldest traces of human occupation date back 6000 years. This exhibition is an identity showcase of its heritage, revealing the way in which the territory was occupied and how the land and sea were explored. History is told through a vast collection of cultural assets, from over fifty institutions, together with objects donated and lent by the people who have built with us the narrative of the last century, showing the History of this territory from various perspectives and views.
